What is a Parish Plan?
A village plan is a way of finding out what facilities/services the residents of the village think would improve village life and then making it happen.
There are four stages to the process
Generating Ideas
Done!
Carrying out a survey
Done!
Producing the plan document
Done! You'll be getting a copy soon
Putting it into action
We're now starting to implement the
plan!
How did we do it?
The first stage of the process was for the residents of Camblesforth to make suggestions as to what they would like to see done (e.g. better public transport, facilities for youths to use in the evenings, etc).
To find out what residents wanted we held a Fun Day event in May 2008, where all residents were welcome to come and let us know what they thought the village needs
were. This wan't a formal meeting, but a 'drop in' event so that residents could come along at any time during the event and write down their ideas.
After the event we collated all of the comments supplied by residents and used them to constuct a detailed questionnaire. The purpose of the questionnaire was to invite
all residents
to have a say on the issues that had been raised by the Fund Day comments.
The questionnaire was delivered to every household in the village in October 2008
with a free prize draw to encourage as many residents as possible to take part.
Approximately 27% of the questionnaires delivered were completed and returned.
After the questionnaires were returned, every response was entered into a
database to allow detailed statistics on residents' responses to be generated.
With the detailed information about how the people of Camblesforth would like to see their village develop
gained from the questionnaire, we began the process of writing the Plan Brochure. This
is a glossy brochure that will be delivered to every household in
the village so that all residents can see the results of the process. The brochure
is the tool that the Plan Group and
the Parish Council will use to address the suggestions made by residents. For example, having a professional looking survey and brochure will
help greatly when trying to secure funding for projects such as the Village Hall.
The plan lists 'action points' to let you know what we think should be done and
who will attempt to address it.
The brochure is being funded by money supplied by Camblesforth Parish Council and
Selby District Council. We finally completed the brochure in July 2009,
after around 18 months of hard work by the Camblesforth Plan team of volunteers.
Now work will commence on implementing the plan!
